Convert AVCHD Footage to Apple Prores 422 for FCP

"What I want to know is can fcp import/transfer .mts files? So far, I haven't been able to do that. So, right now, I have the sd card with the file structure intact. The files are in AVCHD format, filmed with a Sony ?Nex-5 camera. (from sony: 1080i (1,920 x 1,080), 60i (interlaced) fields/second HD recording in AVCHD format).

FCPX still doesn't have a better managing of AVHCD video files, especially in PowerPC-based Macs. Guide to Convert AVCHD to Apple ProRes 422

Step 1. Download MTS/M2TS files to Apple computer.
